This is a benefit show to support MountainTrue and a portion of proceeds from the show will go to clean up the French Broad River.

2017 River Valley Blues Festival at Salvage Station

TWO days of music, food, brews, vendors and more. Artists scheduled to appear include local favorites The Dirty Badgers, The Zuzu Welsh Band, The Paper Crowns, Ashley Heath, Roots & Dore, Virginia and The Slims, and Moses Jones, and two very special national headlining acts – Saturday night, Grammy-nominated Janiva Magness (pictured), and Sunday evening, the 2010 International Blues Challenge winner Grady Champion. Tickets will be $25 for either day individually, or $40 for the weekend. Our emcee again this year will be AshevilleFM’s own Blueshound, host of the weekly blues show Soul Of The Blues (Fridays 7-9pm).

The Get Right Band (pictured) is “hip-shaking, earthquaking pure funk fun” (The Alternate Root). They are one of Relix Magazine’s “On The Verge” picks, Home Grown Music Network’s 2015 “Best New Band of the Year,” and were voted “Best Progressive Band” in Western North Carolina by Mountain Xpress readers. Opener Ben Phan is a prolific poet, songwriter, and guitarist, with the soul of an improviser. The Greenliners are a high energy acoustic ensemble, hailing from Asheville, built around a solid foundation of guitar, mandolin, and upright bass.
